OK show, not so great transfer
New Hurricane Polymar was originally released (on VHS only I believe) by Urban Vision. Discotek has kindly license rescued the series and given it to us on DVD.
So the problem with Polymar is that it suffers from what a lot of OVAs from the 90s suffered from. It simply exists. It has two episodes only. The characters are mostly forgettable. The story isn't anything new or overly unique. They do a good job of keeping you interested while you watch, but once you've seen it one time, chances are pretty slim you will ever bother with it again.
That being said, it was enjoyable enough to view once. I got it in a sale elsewhere and at the $10 sale price I felt that was just right for the price.
The story goes that Takeshi receives a package from one of his old school mates (who met their fate minutes earlier in the opening sequence). He doesn't ask many questions and he can easily utilize the helmet his school mate sent him to become New Hurricane Polymar...
